1992: Village Banking methodologyFINCA Uganda started its operations as a microfinance institution and became popular for its Village Banking methodology where customers would access loans through group membership.
2004: Micro-finance Deposit Taking Institution (MDI)FINCA Uganda was licensed as a Micro-finance Deposit Taking Institution (MDI) thus becoming the first MDI to be regulated by Bank of Uganda under the MDI Act 2003.
2010: Introduction of New Technology to Reach out to Further Rural Areasthe concept of Point of Sale (POS) Machine was introduced to support the core banking system especially in rural areas.
2012: 20 years of providing life-changing financial servicesFINCA Uganda celebrated 20 years of providing life-changing financial services. In the same year it also launched ATM services using the FINCA Access card to allow customers 24/7 access to their money through a multiplicity of Interswitch member Banks’ ATMs across the country.
2014: Savings, Loans and Money transfersFINCA offers Savings, Loans and Money transfer services to its clients across its 27 branches countrywide. It also has more than 500 employees and is still growing.
2015: FINCA opened its Head office premisesFINCA Uganda acquired and opened its own head offices in a magnificent building located on plot 11, Acacia Avenue, Kampala.
2016: FINCA Uganda launches credit scoringIn 2016, FINCA Uganda became the first financial institution in Uganda to adopt credit scoring-a key credit analysis tool that enables the financial institution to make credit decision very fast. This was done in partnership with Compuscan CRB and Kfw. With this tool, FINCA Uganda is now able to make credit decisions within a matter of minutes. This tool has reduced turn-around time, improved operational efficiencies and enhanced customer experience.
