Today, FINCA Uganda has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility campaign dubbed: “A healthy body for healthy business.”

The Campaign which kicked off today in St. Balikuddembe market (Owino) in a partnership between FINCA Uganda and AAR Health services is a way through which the Institution is giving back to the community by making health services accessible especially to the busy market entrepreneurs.

The Campaign in which a number of health services will be offered to the communities is intended to cover all major markets in and around Kampala before it is extended to other regions of the country. Some of the services to be offered include: HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, hypertension, dewormers for children, blood donation, body mass index, dietary information and general consultations. By press time, over 200 market vendors had accessed the services.

During the Campaign launch, Mr. Julius Omoding, FINCA Uganda’s Chief Executive Officer said; “This Campaign is in line with our mission; which is to provide financial services to Uganda’s lowest income entrepreneurs so that they can create jobs, build assets and improve their standards of living.”

“Indeed, unless a person is healthy enough to run their daily businesses, they will not be able to earn income, save or pay back a loan. This Campaign is therefore intended to achieve both a social as well as an economic mission.” He concluded.

Besides health services, customers were also introduced to FINCA Uganda’s products and services which include; savings, loans and money transfers. Throughout the activity in St. Balikuddembe market, most vendors seemed to be interested in business loans, school fees loans and Savings accounts especially for their children. The Campaign will be lasting for two days in each market and will also include cleaning of the markets by FINCA staff.
