“The business of business should not always be about money. It should be about responsibility and support to social causes too.” These were the words of FINCA Uganda’s Managing Director – Mr. James Onyutta as he flagged off Corporate Social Responsibility activities this morning at the FINCA Uganda Head Office along Acacia Avenue in Kampala. The day has been dubbed “FINCA Uganda CSR Day.” All the 27 branches and over 500 staff and some of their Directors of the Board were today involved in different social responsibility activities across the country.
“At FINCA Uganda, we believe that keeping our lives healthy and safe, protecting our environment and investing in education is as paramount as creating a strong business; as these are essential ingredients for our long-term success. And these are our key CSR focus areas.” Mr. Onyutta added.

Since the year began, FINCA Uganda has been engaged in acts of social responsibility that were aimed at improving the quality of life of the people in communities where we operate. These included; donating funds towards health related projects, donating medical equipment to health centers, financial literacy training to clients, donating scholastic materials to schools, cleaning of markets, painting zebra crossings, participating in charity marathons and staging medical camps where services such as HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, Hypertension checkups, Hepatitis B testing and vaccination, body mass index and blood donation have been freely carried out to our customers and other members of the community. These health services were also extended to our staff as we celebrate 25 years in Uganda.

Since 2nd October 2017, we have been running a number of customer experience activities at each of our 27 branches across the country. The activities included preparing breakfast for clients, giving out reflector jackets to motorcycle riders, painting zebra crossings, donating to health centers and giving away branded items to our clients and finally cutting cakes as a way of appreciating their support and loyalty over the years.

When asked why FINCA Uganda chose to celebrate their 25th anniversary this way, Mr. Onyutta replied thus; “We believe that there could never have been any better ways of celebrating our success than dedicating our time and resources to supporting our clients and communities who have greatly contributed to our success. Indeed, without our clients’ support, we would not be”! He concluded.
